Thursday market is moving: Elisenbrunnen will be the new meeting place!

The Thursday market in Aachen will soon take place in front of the magnificent Elisenbrunnen on Friedrich-Wilhelm-Platz! This exciting decision was made unanimously by the City Council during its meeting on Wednesday, November 6th. The Housing and Real Estate Committee and the Aachen-Mitte district council had previously made their recommendations. The move, which is expected to be completed at the beginning of 2025, promises a breath of fresh air for the market activity in Aachen's city center.

The Thursday market is currently still taking place on the town hall forecourt, but politicians, administration and market organizers agree: the new location will attract more visitors and increase the attractiveness of the weekly market. A similar move took place in spring 2022 at the Tuesday market, which, after a test phase, is now taking place permanently at the Elisenbrunnen. The reactions were consistently positive: more customers, better accessibility and happier feeders who reported higher sales. These successes should now also inspire the Thursday market!

A new glimmer of hope for the city center

With this strategic shift, those responsible want to secure the two weekly market dates in the city center, especially next to the popular Saturday organic market on Münsterplatz. There is great anticipation for the new location, and everyone involved is hoping for a similar success to the Tuesday market.
