This moving award comes to his 42nd anniversary of death and aims to raise awareness of the dark history of National Socialism. The station forecourt is already called "Fritz-Levy-Platz" and is now reminiscent of its significant history through the new plaque. This site remains a testimony to what happened in the past so that we can learn from the mistakes.

urgent memory work

At the ceremonial ceremony, Jevers Mayor Jan Edo Albers and other important personalities from the city council and the working group "Gröscher-Haus" were merged. Albers emphasized the need for remembrance locations today and explained: "The longer the war is, the more difficult it is to convey the background to people." These reminders are reminiscent of the misdeeds of a past era and create space for education and education about the deeds of the National Socialists.

The Initiative "Remembrance in Friesland" has set itself the goal of researching and documenting the crimes from this time. Hartmut Peters caught that this stele is already the third in Jever, which in this way directs the focus to the story to be worked on. "Without Levy, we would not have the culture of remembrance that we have in Jever today," emphasized Reiner Tammen.

Design and content of the stele come from the Jeveraner Grafician Andreas Reiberg, while Peters developed the concise text. This honor not only shows how important Levy was for the city, but also reminds that the message "never again fascism" is still important today. "Take It Easy", a motto of Levys, still sounds today - an urgent message for everyone!
