Nasal spray addiction: How to get rid of dependency!
Österreich - In Austria, nasal sprays are an ubiquitous phenomenon - and not just for colds. The latest reports of the Krone show that daily thousands of people fall back on these apparently harmless products, often not for health reasons. Instead, growing dependence on these means seems to be the cause. Every year, 70 million bottles of nasal spray are sold in Germany, and a few million are added from Austria. This throws a testing light on the dangers of these popular medication, which is often accompanied by a so -called "stink nose" - a state that arises from excessive use.
What happens to health care while people get into this suction? The Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) , which includes 7.6 million insured persons, expects health costs to increase through the treatment of such side effects. With a total budget of 18.8 billion euros for 2024 - 20 % for medication - the ÖGK could take due measures to ensure that the patients are not only treated, but also preventively protected. Bernhard Wurzer, General Director of the ÖGK, emphasizes the importance of a patient -centered and close -up care that is increasingly supplemented by digital solutions.
urgent need for action
The problem of nasal spray addiction and the necessary support from the ÖGK could become even more pressing in the near future. The clarification of the risks of abuse cases is the focus of the efforts to stop the increase in dependencies. An effective system that includes preventive programs and therapeutic measures will be essential to secure the health of the insured in the long term and to minimize the need for medical services by excessive consumption of nasal sprays.
