Hope for Marleen: Fight against rare genetic defect syndrome!
A two-year-old girl from Kiedrich, Marleen, has a rare and serious disease called “Multisystemic Smooth Muscle Dysfunction Syndrome” (MSMDS). This genetic disorder affects the smooth muscles in the body, which play a crucial role in many important functions such as controlling blood flow in blood vessels, regulating the digestive tract and the respiratory tract. Only about 60 cases are known worldwide, making MSMDS an exceptionally rare disease.
Due to this incurable disease, Marleen is at high risk and can face serious complications at any time. These include, among other things, strokes, aneurysms or pulmonary embolisms, which can endanger not only the quality of life but also survival of the affected children. In order to support Marleen and her family financially, a charity wine tasting is organized in Kiedrich.
The charity event
The wine tasting takes place at a local winery and aims to raise funds to cover necessary medical costs and therapies. Such events are an important opportunity to raise awareness of rare diseases and support the families affected. The organizers hope for active participation and many generous donations from locals and wine lovers.
The event not only provides an opportunity to taste fine wines, but also aims to raise awareness of MSMDS and the challenges it poses. Speakers are expected to provide information about the disease and explain the importance of support for affected families. Such initiatives are essential as they help secure funds for research and support projects.
Marleen's family is grateful for the support and solidarity of the community. Such positive responses can make a big difference in difficult times, both emotionally and financially. Additionally, the charity wine tasting will help promote dialogue about rare diseases and make people aware of the need for research and support.
For more information about this event and Marleen's illness, those interested can access the website, where details of the fundraising campaign are also provided. See the current reporting on www.wiesbadener-kurier.de.
The planned wine tasting symbolizes not only the hope for financial help, but also the compassion and strength of a community coming together to help a young life affected by a rare and challenging disease.
