Impostors and burglars wreak havoc on Lullusfest: shocking acts!
The Lullusfest celebrations in Bad Hersfeld not only attracted visitors, but also a number of unpleasant incidents that led to police investigations. Several crimes occurred between October 18 and 20 that affected the security situation over the weekend.
A violent attack occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Friday evening. An 18-year-old was attacked while talking to a group of teenagers and suffered facial injuries that required hospital treatment. The teenagers fled before the police arrived. The alleged perpetrator was described as around 20 years old and of southern appearance.
Thefts and scams
On Saturday, October 19, a 71-year-old woman experienced a shocking pickpocketing on the festival grounds. While she was carrying her backpack, her wallet, which contained a three-digit euro amount and several bank cards, was stolen from her luggage. Just one day later, a 60-year-old had an iPhone 14 worth 300 euros stolen from his jacket pocket in a similar manner.
Crimes didn't just occur on the festival grounds: a 69-year-old resident fell victim to an attempted fraud on Friday. Two men posing as repairmen gained entry to her apartment and stole cash while distracting her. One of the perpetrators was wearing gray and black Engelbert-Strauß work clothes.
Another incident occurred on Friday in Wildeck: Unknown people broke into a single-family home and stole jewelry and cash worth a mid-four-figure amount. Also on Sunday, a license plate was stolen from a vehicle parked in a hotel parking lot.
Vandalism and damage to property
At another location in Rotenburg, a wooden shelter was set on fire. The incident occurred on Sunday morning when unknown persons set fire to the shelter, which was then completely destroyed. The material damage caused is estimated at around 8,000 euros.
The police have started an investigation and are advising the public to be vigilant. Caution is particularly advised when it comes to scams. Older people in particular should not allow themselves to be deceived by supposed craftsmen or other uninvited visitors and should always be skeptical. It is advisable to keep a close eye on valuables and, if in doubt, to contact the police.
If you have any relevant information about the incidents, witnesses can contact the Bad Hersfeld police station or via the online watchdog. It remains to be seen whether further information can help solve these crimes.
