Norderelbbrücke free again: traffic jams on the weekend failed!
Norderelbbrücke, 21037 Hamburg, Deutschland - The Norderelbbrücke on Autobahn 1 in Hamburg is released for traffic again after a night closing! Autobahn GmbH Nord announced that the work on the bridge could be completed faster than planned. Originally, the blocking should continue until Monday at 5 a.m.
During the blocking, important welding work was carried out below and inside the bridge, road damage was repaired and the protective devices were also repaired. A little patience was required because the blocking temporarily led to traffic jams and staggering traffic at the weekend. Fortunately, the chaos failed to materialize, as a spokesman for the traffic control center in Hamburg confirmed. On the diversion route via the A24, drivers had to plan up to 15 minutes more, while the traffic between Horn and the Hamburg-Ost cross stalled.
bridge with history
The Norderelbbrücke, which was opened in 1963, is more than 60 years old and has had a lot behind. The breakdown strips have also been used as lanes since 1986. However, the bridge must withstand at least 2029/2030 until a new building is completed in the immediate vicinity. Despite the work carried out, the damage is not so serious that a blocking for heavy goods traffic would be necessary.
