Andreas Herzog, the former Austrian international, spoke in a current talks at Sport & Talk from Hangar 7 about his turbulent time at Bayern Munich. Herzog describes the move from Werder Bremen to Bavaria as a drastic cut in his career. "The family atmosphere at Werder was a complete contrast to the pressure and high expectations that prevailed in Bavaria," he said. Despite a talented team, the team missed the cohesion that is necessary to be successful. "We weren't mastered, but we won the UEFA Cup," said Herzog, adding that the special dynamics within the team had been challenging from the start.
After the game, Kahn decided to confront: "I said to him: 'If you look at me again, I would go back.' That was a turning point for me," reported Herzog, who found the situation significantly unsustainable. After the incident, there was a conversation with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß in the cabin, which Duke complained about for his expression and wished he would be better back. "For me that turned my head at Bavaria and I no longer felt supported," continued Herzog. This finally led to his move back to Bremen, where he missed the family atmosphere and opened a new chapter in his career.
