Fire in Wismar: 17 residents evacuated – police are investigating!

There was a dramatic fire in a terraced house in the picturesque old town of Wismar on Saturday evening, scaring residents. At 8:30 p.m. the fire broke out in the basement of the house and the alarm was immediately raised. An alert resident noticed the rising smoke and acted quickly by alerting the fire department. Thanks to the quick intervention of the Wismar professional fire department and the Wismar/Altstadt volunteer fire department, the fire was quickly extinguished before it could spread to other rooms.

A total of 17 residents had to flee their apartments, but the good news: They have now been able to return safely to their apartments.
