Eckernfördeshines in spectacular light! On Saturday, around 2,000 enthusiastic visitors enjoyed the festival of lights in the city center of the popular Baltic Sea resort. After last year when terrible storm surges marred the festival, this was a return to full glory! Fire, music and exciting laser shows made for an unforgettable night for families and friends from across the North.
The anticipation was ushered in with a lantern parade, in which many families proudly presented their homemade lanterns. When they arrived at the town hall square, the guests were enchanted by the breathtaking “Fördefeuer” shows by the talented Kiel artists Anni Lalu and Stina Inselmann. For the little festival visitors there was not only free ice cream from restaurateur Tarek Özdemir, but also lots of snack packages from the Eckernförde candy factory. Delicious bratwursts, juicy burgers and refreshing drinks were waiting for the adults at various stands.
Laser and light show in a class of its own
The Hamburg acoustic duo “Buddha Boohai” heated things up with rousing music and motivated the guests to sing along. Frontman Boris Böhringer entertained the audience charismatically and full of humor. But the absolute highlight of the evening was the breathtaking laser and light show from the renowned “Laserstudio” from Padenstedt. These masters of illumination created a fantastic spectacle by conjuring up colorful light effects on the facades of the historic buildings, accompanied by appropriate music!
The response to the Festival of Lights was overwhelming for Stephan Vollbehr, event manager at Eckernförde Touristik und Marketing GmbH: "We didn't expect this response! It's just a great atmosphere." With the aim of continuing the tradition and putting the focus on the historic town hall market, the team is already promising a continuation of “Eckernförde shines” next year! “You can’t really imagine a better end to the season,” he cheered.
