Treasure hunt in Perleberg: Geocaching inspires the region!

Perleberg. geocaching is the new adventure! An inconspicuous metal ball hides on a street sign, and the neighborhood becomes the scene of an exciting treasure hunt. Anna Lempke, a passionate geocacher from Perleberg, placed him there: the "Nu Pagadi" cache, inspired by an iconic GDR sign tricks. So far, 93 adventurous treasure hunters have discovered the hiding place, while four unhappy souls never tracked down the treasure.

The hunt for the hidden treasures is much more than a game for Anna. The committed geocacher uses a special app and GPS coordinates to discover secret places in forests, on the outskirts and the most unusual locations for many years. The geocaching community celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2024 and is planning large events, including a mega meeting in Prague with over 3000 participants!

Impressive treasure hunt

Anna started geocaching in 2011, but Corona pandemic in 2020 gave its hobby the necessary thrust. To date, she has tracked down an incredible 2862 caches and has planned to crack the 3000 mark soon! "Geocaching requires a feel for the environment," she explains. A cache can be as simple as a small metal ball in a tree or so challenging that you need special tools. Over 30 hidden treasures are distributed in the Perleberg region alone. The treasure hunt often goes hand in hand with an exciting tour of the city.

Through her hobby, Anna is not only active in her hometown, but also travels to hidden places in Germany and beyond. From old bunkers to secret places, nothing is too heavy for her. Even on vacation she uses every opportunity to discover something new. A very exciting project is her "Roland", a travel cache that is supposed to travel through all Roland cities in Germany.
