Kornstrasse in Salzgitter: New Cash Point” provides relief!

In Salzgitter-Lichtenberg, a new development is providing relief for residents: a new ATM is being built on a previously unused green area on Kornstrasse. This is happening as part of a project by the Braunschweigische Landessparkasse (BLSK), which wants to set up a so-called “cash point” there. This initiative is particularly important as local bank branches have recently been significantly thinned out.

The construction work, which may have surprised many residents, began more than a year ago. The background is an incident in the summer of 2022, when an ATM at the Sparkasse in Lichtenberg was blown up. After this incident, there was initially no replacement and the Volksbank also withdrew from the region, which made it significantly more difficult for many citizens, especially the older residents, to receive cash.

Announcement of the new “Cash Points”

The new machine at the primary school creates the opportunity to easily withdraw or deposit cash again. According to BLSK spokeswoman Marion Thomsen, the ATM will meet the latest security standards. While residents speculated about what the construction work would bring, there was finally clarity: an easily accessible point for cash transactions will soon be available.

The opening hours of the “Cash Point” are from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, which is intended to offer users great flexibility.

Although the ATM is still in the starting blocks - electricity and other technical requirements still need to be installed - residents are optimistic and look forward to the soon availability of cash. In this respect, there is a positive turnaround for the community, which recently had to struggle with difficult cash supplies.
