Art in the monastery: Fresenius' would celebrate works and humanity
In the Kulturzentrum Kloster Wechterswinkel, located in the picturesque Rhön near Bastheim, the impressive artwork "Three in a boat" by Speyer artist Klaus Fresenius is now presented. This novelty is part of the permanent exhibition "dignified - impulses for the incarnation", which now houses a most prominent artist from the region, like the Rheinpfalz . The exhibition was opened yesterday and should not only show the aesthetic dimension of Fresenius ’art, but also address deeper social issues. The picture is placed in an area with the title "Dignity of the exploited", which should stimulate the viewer to think.
The collector and cathedral capitular emeritus of the Diocese of Würzburg, Jürgen Lenssen, who is involved in the exhibition as a cooperation partner, celebrated Fresenius ’70th birthday, and acquired the work in Speyer during a visit. Lenssen thus contributes to enriching the constant collection in the Wechterswinkel monastery, which already has a diverse and important art collection. The monastery history itself is fascinating: it was founded around 1140 and was one of the oldest women's monasteries in German -speaking countries and the most third -party monastery in the diocese of Würzburg href = "https://kultur.rhoen-grabfeld.de/museen-und-spielstaetten/kloster-wechtwinkel/kreiskulturzentrum-kloster-wechtwinkel"> Kulturagentur Rhön-Grabfeld notes.
a place with history
The Wechterswinkel monastery has had a moving story in which economic challenges and repeated reform attempts played a central role. In the 13th century, the number of monastery sisters had grown in such a way that the supply could no longer be guaranteed. Despite the difficulties, the monastery was used as a cultural center until the 18th century and is now an important legacy in the region. The connection between the long -term monastery history and contemporary art makes the exhibition all the more interesting.
