New life in the Rittergarten: Raphael and Ramona Braun take over!
A fresh wind is blowing through the Rittergarten in Tuttlingen! The young couple Raphael and Ramona Braun, both 34 years old, have taken over the traditional restaurant and are planning big things. "Raphael Braun doesn't do things by halves. If he does, I always give 100 percent," he says resolutely. While Ramona managed the final days of her Salem location, Raphael prepared everything for the November 1st opening. The two bring valuable experience from the catering industry, and preparations are in full swing: basic cleaning, a new kitchen and fresh furniture are just some of the measures that have already been implemented.
A new chapter for the Rittergarten
The Brauns, who originally come from Lake Constance, decided to take the step after years in the catering and event industry. “We work an incredible amount but earn little,” smiles Raphael, who previously worked as a craftsman and bartender. After a short stay on a cruise ship and returning to Lake Constance, they recently took over two club restaurants in Salem and Owingen. Now they have taken the opportunity to revitalize the knight's garden, which looks back on a long tradition.
The Hirsch brewery from Wurmlingen, with which Raphael has been working for five years, provided the impetus for the lease. “The Rittergarten was waiting for me and I for him,” he says confidently. The large beer garden and the old brewery cellars offer enormous potential. The kitchen now serves home-style Swabian dishes, burgers and vegetarian alternatives. Opening times are from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sundays and public holidays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., while Wednesdays are closed. “We want to extend the opening hours, but that also depends on the search for personnel,” explains Braun.
To ensure a seamless transition, it was important for the new tenants to get started quickly after their predecessor, Thomas Stenger, gave up for health reasons. The first changes are already visible: new partition walls and furniture create an inviting atmosphere. The beer garden is scheduled to open in spring, and Raphael already has exciting event ideas in mind. “Let yourself be surprised,” he says with a grin. The Rittergarten, a historic building from the 18th century, has a colorful history and the new innkeepers are ready to breathe new life into it!
