Nuthe, Deutschland - Lindau/Nutha-exciting news from Saxony-Anhalt! After years of hard work, the salmon impressively return to the Nuthe! At least nine of the previously exposed salmon have been spotted this year - the best result since 2011! Martin Schwabe from the State Angler Association explains Euphorically: "This is a very good result!" But there is still a lot to do: In order to secure independent reproduction, more fish have to come back.

In order to further promote the salmon stock, a proud 20,000 young salmon will be exposed to the nuthe and adjacent waters on Wednesday. These small fish, which are about seven centimeters large, are to be distributed over a distance of around ten kilometers to maximize the chances of survival. Martin Schwabe emphasizes the importance of the wide -ranging suspension in order to escape predatory fish and reduce the competition among the salmon.

The "hiking fish program" has been running since 2009, which scientifically supports the return of the salmon. The Nuthe in particular was the perfect choice due to its once domestic salmon stocks and the many mined hiking barriers. Sales live most of the time in the Atlantic Ocean and return to their birth flows in autumn to take their up to 30,000 eggs there.

Not all salmon make it back - many are eaten or encounter high obstacles such as weirs. Despite these challenges, there is hope that the salmon-cosystem is stabilizing. Success continues to be observed, because the efforts of the Institute for Inland Fisheries go far beyond this year. Schwabe assures: "We will continue the program indefinitely until the system carries itself." It remains exciting whether this succeeds!
