Traffic chaos in Offenburg: Hauptstraße between Stadtbuckel and Kinzigbrücke closed!

From Monday, October 14th, the main street between Stadtbuckel and Kinzigbrücke in Offenburg will be subjected to comprehensive renovation. This work, which should last up to Advent, lead to various closures and diversions in traffic. The city of Offenburg has announced that the renovation in three sections to control the effects on traffic as well as possible.

The first phase of the construction work affects the section from the city hump to the confluence with Freiburger Straße. Here the main street is completely blocked out of town. However, traffic remains unhindered. Depending on foreign traffic are set up via Ortenberger Straße and the Südring. During this work, the entrances to the Kronenplatz, Wilhelm-Bauer-Straße and Angelgasse are also not possible, but there are alternative access via the waterway and the Amalie-Tonoli-Straße.

In the second section, the main street between Stadtbuckel and Kronenstrasse is also closed out of town. However, traffic can drive past the construction site in one lane. The entrance to Kronenstraße remains possible during this phase, while the exit from there is closed to the main street. Only the exit to the main street is permitted for traffic from the Kronenplatz, the large -scale diversion remains.

In the third and last construction site phase, the section is closed from Freiburger Straße to Kronenstrasse into the city. During this period, traffic can only drive towards the city. The diversions lead over the Südring, Freiburger Straße, the B3 and the extended Moltkestrasse. The entrance and exit to the Kronenplatz remains open to vehicles driving out of the city, while access to Kronenstrasse remains closed. However, Kronenstraße is accessible via Zähringerstrasse and Stegermattstrasse.

The city announced that all walking and cycle paths along the main street remain usable during the construction work. In the case of disabilities due to the construction site, surrounding diversions are provided. The renovation work in Offenburg is a necessary step to improve the transport infrastructure and minimize possible security risks.
