Five years of early help: support for parents in the Wolfenbüttel district
The fifth anniversary of the Early Help Center in the Wolfenbüttel district was celebrated at a festive event. The celebration took place in the aha adventure museum and offered an insight into the various services that have been available since its founding. District Administrator Christiana Steinbrügge emphasized that the department can be reached centrally on 84 210 and the importance of the offers for parents and children.
The specialist center offers advice and help from pregnancy to three years of age. The core offers include a pilot service for expectant parents at the Wolfenbüttel Clinic and a welcome package for young parents. The Wolfenbüttel district is one of the five municipal quality “early help” workshops in Lower Saxony. Axel Burghardt, managing director of the municipal clinic, praised the close cooperation with the Braunschweig clinic.
Development and offers of the department
Jörg Hermann, the head of the department, recalled the development of early help since 2006. The cooperation with the clinic was established in 2008, while the offers in the department were pooled in 2019. The latter moved two years ago to Lindener Straße 15, into the former rooms of the Cuba Museum. Susanne Keuntje, state coordinator of early help in Lower Saxony, emphasized the high quality of early help in the district.
Annette Scheffer, the team leader, reported that the work of the first five years was significantly influenced by the Corona period. Nevertheless, the specialist center continued to offer its services during the pandemic. The offers presented included, among other things, the pilot service, baby welcoming, network meetings, advice, specialist events and outreach work. On the occasion of the anniversary, Bärbel Derksen from Berlin gave a lecture on the importance of growing up healthy.
In addition to the celebration in the museum, the specialist office in the Wolfenbüttel district regularly offers events to support new parents. The baby welcoming takes place at various locations where each newborn baby is given a welcome gift. Siblings are also allowed to bring along. The early help specialists support parents from pregnancy until their child's first birthday with regular home visits that provide information about health, care, nutrition and birth.
Consultation hours are available on Wednesdays and Fridays for telephone advice, while the pilot service at the Wolfenbüttel Municipal Clinic is organized on Mondays and Fridays. A map of offerings for parents with babies and toddlers is also available to make it easier to access key services such as lkwf.de reported.
The collaboration and exchange within the “Early Help Round Table” as well as the support in finding a midwife from a multi-professional team underline the department's commitment to continuously promoting the quality of the offers. Information on child development can be found on recommended websites, which complements the department's comprehensive resources.
A key part of the celebrations was the presentation of the dedicated team from the Early Help Center, who are committed to the well-being of families, so that the services will continue to have a high priority in the region cremlingen-online.de highlighted.
